introduction:

The Wastewater Treatment Dilemma in the Philippines

With 7,107 islands, only seven cities have municipal sewage networks. Nationwide coverage is less than 15%, 84% of urban households rely on septic tanks, and of 421 rivers, 50 have been officially declared biologically dead.

The problem is not a lack of policy. The Clean Water Act provides a complete framework with clear regulatory requirements. The problem is the near absence of implementable infrastructure.

Under the triple constraints of archipelagic terrain, dispersed communities, and limited budgets, building large centralized treatment plants and extending pipelines is not the solution. Decentralized, modular, and intelligently operated treatment systems are the only scalable path for wastewater treatment in the Philippines.

MBR Membrane Bioreactor: Process Principle

The MBR integrates activated sludge biological treatment with membrane separation technology into one system. The core process is divided into two steps:

Biological Treatment: Microorganisms in the reaction tank degrade organic matter, ammonia nitrogen, and phosphates. The system maintains a sludge concentration of 8,000–15,000 mg/L, 3–5 times that of conventional processes, reducing reaction tank volume by more than 60% for the same water flow.

Membrane Filtration: The mixed liquid is filtered through PVDF ultrafiltration membranes with pore sizes of 0.04–0.4 microns, completely replacing conventional secondary sedimentation tanks. Effluent suspended solids ≤1 mg/L, turbidity ≤0.2 NTU, consistently meeting Philippine discharge standards, and can be directly reused for irrigation, toilet flushing, or industrial cooling.

Product Series

Small Decentralized Series: Suitable for independent resorts, island communities, village-level sanitation facilities, and small to medium hotels. Fully underground installation, with only maintenance access at the surface, preserving the landscape. 45-day delivery, 3–7 days on-site installation, plug-and-play.

Medium Municipal Series: Suitable for coastal towns, tourism development areas, and septic tank treatment stations. Containerized modular design supports rapid deployment and future expansion, meeting LWUA requirements for municipal wastewater treatment facilities.

Large Engineering Series: Suitable for large resort complexes, food processing plants, and town centralized treatment projects. Supports EPC turnkey mode, providing full-chain services from process design to operational handover.

FyhoneOS : Making Distributed Operation Possible

In the Philippines, the biggest challenge in operating wastewater treatment equipment is not technology but operation and maintenance. Professional engineers are scarce, island transport is weather-dependent, and equipment failures can go unresolved for days.

The FyhoneOS is designed to solve this problem. It is not a monitoring dashboard but a predictive and decision-making engine trained on data from hundreds of real sites.

Adaptive Process Optimization: Automatically adjusts aeration, recirculation, membrane flux, and chemical dosing based on real-time influent quality, reducing overall energy consumption compared to manual operation.

Predictive Maintenance: Uses AI analysis to issue warnings before failures occur, identifying failure modes such as blower bearing wear or pump efficiency decline, turning reactive repairs into proactive prevention.

Abnormal Event Response: For stormwater surges, holiday kitchen peaks, or factory shift changes,
